Harrison Students Participate in Regional Winter Special Olympics

Forty-six Harrison students attended the regional basketball Special Olympics event held today at Bergman.  Students participated in a variety of activities including shooting accuracy, dribbling speed, and passing skills, working hard while having fun!

HPS students attend three separate events each academic year.  Bowling Special Olympics is held in the fall, basketball in the winter, and track and field events are held each spring.

Special Olympics, founded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver in the 1960’s, provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and their community.

We are so proud of our HPS Special Olympics athletes!  Congratulations to each of you!
