Now Hiring: 6th Grade Math
General Guidelines: Only Harrison Middle School students in grades 5 & 6 may enter.   Entrance to the dance will be at the back of HMS. Students will sign-in and pay admission fee of $5 when they arrive and will not be permitted to leave the building and re-enter. Students are expected to demonstrate behavior appropriate for a school dance.  Students demonstrating inappropriate behavior may be sent home from the dance and may be prohibited from attending future dances. School resource officers, administrators, teachers and chaperones will be present at the dance to ensure student safety.  We are fully staffed with needed chaperones. Only students and official chaperones will be allowed in the school. A themed photo area will be set up outside the school for parents to take photos of their students. Attire for boys and girls will need to follow the day to day school dress code guidelines found in the HMS Parent/Student Handbook on our website.  Drop off can start at 5:15.  Cafeteria doors will not open until 5:30.  Pick up will begin at 7:30, and all students must be picked up by 7:45. Students may need extra money once in the dance for snacks, drinks and a photo booth.
HMS Gob Night Out 2024 on November 12, from 4 - 6 pm.
Dress up Days for Red Ribbon Week.  Tuesday - wear red, Wednesday, - favorite character, Thursday - classy or camo, Friday - favorite decade
The 1st Annual Fall Festival at the Harrison Middle School will be Monday, Oct 28th from 5 - 7 pm in the . Admission is free to come in. If you want to play games, buy an armband for $5. There are a few games that will involve an additional cost. You may prepay for your armband with your child's homeroom teacher.
UPCOMING HMS Picture Day Information: Picture Day - Thursday, October 17 Makeup Pictures - Friday, November 22. *If a student  misses both days, their picture might not be in the yearbook.. MANY STUDENTS have not returned the permission slip to have their picture in the yearbook.  If we don’t get that back, their picture won’t be in the yearbook.Dark solid colors of clothing usually photographs best. Students will be asked to remove hoodies and jackets before meeting the photographer (unless that is part of their outfit somehow).  Clothing needs to be school appropriate (including the modesty, no hat, and only appropriate wording expectations).  More info: Check with Mrs. Beardsley or the yearbook committee 1st period.
Students form teams and return the team sign up form by September 27. Students will meet once per month with their small group during school lunch. Over the next several months students will try to read as many of this year’s Battle of the Books selections as they can. Teams will compete against each other (much like Jeopardy) in the school battle in April or May. The top team will move on to compete against other teams for the grand championship for 2024- 2025. Awards TBD.

Canvas Parent Observer Account Setup Instructions  WHAT IS CANVAS? Canvas is a Learning Management System (LMS), where your student’s online learning actually happens. Students can take tests, quizzes, do homework and watch lessons.   Canvas has the ability for Parents to act as a Student Observer. You now have the ability to see what exactly is going on in your child's classes. Observers are linked to one or more students; while you cannot submit course work on their behalf, you can see grades, assignments, events and any course interaction.  HOW DO I BECOME AN OBSERVER? In order to become a Student Observer you must first have your child generate a pairing code. Once you have a pairing code, please follow these steps to register an account. If you already have a parent account click here for instructions on adding a pairing code to your account.  Directions for the Web:  1. Access Canvas at: https://harrisonk12.instructure.com/login/canvas  2. Click the account link at the top of the page.        3. Enter Signup Details Enter the following information: Enter your name in the Your Name field. Enter your email in the Your Email field. Enter your password in the Password field. Re-enter your password in the Re-enter Password field. Enter a pairing code to link your account to your student in the Student Pairing Code field. Agree to the terms of use by clicking the You agree to the terms of use checkbox. Click the Start Participating button.
