Students attending Regional Day of Opportunities

Harrison Schools and the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a "Regional Day of Opportunities" at Harrison High School's Goblin Arena today.   HPS students, as well as students from our neighboring  schools, had the opportunity to visit with over 45 area businesses.  This event allows students to expand their awareness of available career options, while also learning first-hand about the details and requirements for the various career opportunities available to them.  Career exploration assists students in bridging the gap between education and the workforce by showing students how their interests, academic career and skill set can translate into the job market, and what steps they can take to reach their goals.

With a better understanding of the working world, students can envision how they fit successfully into the workforce.  Knowing the academic and skill-based preparation they will need for specific careers; students can set realistic goals for themselves and pursue them. Career exploration is a valuable motivator for students as it gives them perspective and a better sense of their future.

Thank you to all area businesses who participated today. We are grateful for your investment in the future of our area students!
