Phishing, Vishing, and Smishing – Oh My!

Social Engineering has become the primary tool for data stealing and hacking events. It involves using deception and psychological manipulation that includes phishing, vishing, and smishing. Phishing emails, vishing phone calls, and smishing text messages all aim to acquire your credentials and data. The information gained is used to enter networks without being detected. Time and confidence are two psychological tools that attackers use to catch you off guard and vulnerable. When you are rushed or feel confident that you will not be attacked, you open the door where you can become manipulated. Staying vigilant and on guard takes practice. Having colleagues that you can trust will also help. Sometimes, walking through the forest of attackers takes locking arms together.
