A ribbon cutting ceremony was held this morning at Forest Heights Elementary to celebrate the school's exciting new book vending machine. Attendees at the celebration included district administration, Board of Education members, Harrison Public Schools Foundation members, and more.
.
A book vending machine allows students to select and purchase books with tokens earned for positive behaviors each week. The project promotes literacy by building student excitement about reading and by giving them the opportunity to earn books that are theirs to choose and keep.
Tammy Ward, media specialist, wrote and submitted a grant to the Harrison Public Schools Foundation who in turn funded the purchase for Harrison students.
This week's "Students of the Week" were on hand to make the first "purchases" from the new machine.
Thank you also to the Harrison Public Schools Foundation for your support of our schools!
We appreciate you!
