High school students from Harrison and Alpena Schools attended a presentation at North Arkansas College’s John Paul Hammerschmidt Business and Conference Center this morning. The program, presented by Arkansas-based company Clark Contractors, LLC, informed students about current internship and career opportunities in the construction industry.
Shannon Solomon and Seth Haney of Clark Contractors LLC began the morning with an overview of the Clark company, then discussed various career pathways and opportunities currently available to interested students. In the past, Clark has accepted college students for internships. Now, the company is offering high school and summer internships as well. These internships allow students to train and explore the many aspects of the construction industry.
“Our program allows students the opportunity to see and explore all the trades, then decide what path they want to pursue”, said Shannon Solomon. “You’re going to do your best if you’re passionate about your job, if you love it.”
After the seated presentation, students donned safety vests and hardhats to walk over to one of Clark’s current projects - the new “Center for Robotics and Manufacturing Innovation” (CRMI) building at NorthArk. The company plans to hire additional help for this project in the near future.
Students interested in pursuing an internship were encouraged to send resumes to the company as soon as possible.
The Career Exploration Camp activity was organized by HHS career coach Ashley Massengale.
