Student Victoria Yantorn

Today's job market is ever-changing as industry trends and technologies adapt, develop, and evolve at rapid paces. Students who take advantage of opportunities to explore potential career choices during high school not only gain valuable information, but also better understand the relationship between their current academic studies and future career goals.

Harrison High School College and Career Readiness coaches Ashley Massengale and Kelly Regan work to provide opportunities for students to explore the career choices they are interested in learning more about.

Harrison freshman Victoria Yantorn is interested in possibly pursuing a career in the hospitality industry, specifically considering event planning. To learn more about this career, she is spending the day with Matt Bell, Harrison Convention & Visitors Bureau and Explore Harrison's Executive Director, as well as other members of his team as they assist in facilitating, supporting, and promoting the 3A State Basketball Tournament taking place at North Arkansas College's Pioneer Pavilion.

Before heading to Northark today, Victoria met with Mr. Bell to learn more about the goals and responsibilities of the Harrison Convention & Visitors Bureau. Mr. Bell also emphasized how events such as the current tournament and local annual festivals increase revenue to businesses in the community. He stressed the importance of keeping visitors informed of things to do, places to see, etc. in our local area.

We are so grateful to our community members who partner with our district to allow our students to participate in these valuable educational experiences.
